Server, MDF & IDF Installation in Portland, OR

Your main distribution frame (MDF) and intermediate distribution frames (IDFs) are the backbone of every wired network in your building. NW Fiber Co designs, builds, and terminates these rooms the right way, so your data, phones, cameras, and Wi-Fi all trace back to clean, labeled, documented racks instead of a tangle of cable. We handle server rack installation, network cabinet mounting, and full data center cabling for offices, warehouses, medical buildings, and multi-tenant sites across the Portland metro.

This work is built for business owners, IT managers, and general contractors who need a server room set up correctly the first time. Whether you are moving into new space, consolidating closets, or bringing an aging patch field up to standard, we bring carrier-grade discipline to the job and leave you with infrastructure your team can actually work on for years.

Why NW Fiber Co

A server room you cannot maintain is a liability, so we build racks your IT team can actually work in, every port labeled, mapped, and captured in as-built documentation. NW Fiber Co coordinates with your electrician or GC, schedules around your operation, and terminates copper and fiber to the same discipline that keeps carrier networks running. We are owner-operated, local to the Portland metro, rated 5.0 on Google, and every build starts with a free estimate.

How it works

1
Walkthrough & estimate
We visit your site, look at the space, power, and pathways, talk through your growth plans, and send back a clear free estimate with the rack layout and cable counts.
2
Design & schedule
We lay out the MDF, IDFs, and backbone runs, coordinate with your electrician or GC on power and pathways, and set a schedule that works around your operation.
3
Install & terminate
We mount and bond the racks, pull and dress the cabling, terminate copper and fiber, and keep everything organized and code-conscious as we go.
4
Test, label & hand off
Every run is tested and certified, ports are labeled and mapped, and we hand you as-built documentation so the room is easy to maintain.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an MDF and an IDF?
The MDF is your main distribution frame, the central hub where your service and core equipment live. IDFs are intermediate frames on other floors or wings that connect back to the MDF, so cable runs to workstations stay within distance limits and stay organized.
How fast can you come out for a quote?
We respond quickly to local Portland-area requests and can usually schedule a site walkthrough within a few days, same-day where possible. Call (503) 427-8737 for a free estimate with a real layout and cost, not a rough guess.
Can you work after hours to avoid disrupting our office?
Yes. We regularly schedule rack and cabling work around business hours or over a weekend so your team keeps working while we build. Let us know your constraints during the walkthrough and we will plan around them.
Do you handle both the copper and the fiber in the server room?
We do. NW Fiber Co terminates and tests structured copper cabling as well as single-mode and multimode fiber, including splicing and certification for high-density data center cabling.
Do you install the racks and cabinets, or just the cabling?
Both. We supply and install server racks, wall-mount and floor-standing network cabinets, cable management, and PDUs, then run and terminate the cabling so the whole room is finished and documented.
